Oddities Collection: The Hollow Tree House

This tiny hollow tree house appears to have been made as a simple decorative piece, but its crooked stone steps, little wooden door, and unusually inviting proportions make it feel less like an ornament and more like a place waiting for someone very small to come home.

Faerie folklore has long suggested that certain objects can become temporary shelters for wandering faeries, sprites, and other woodland creatures. They are said to prefer quiet corners, windowsills, gardens, houseplants, and anywhere humans are unlikely to disturb them. 

Whether this house has ever actually been occupied is impossible to say.

Its hollow interior does, however, provide just enough room for tiny treasures, notes, buttons, dried flowers, shiny stones, or anything else a fairy might reasonably consider worth keeping.

Some believe that placing a small offering beside an empty faerie house is an invitation. Others strongly recommend leaving the residents alone.
